Concept:
The line connecting the dots represents the distance. The most simplified distances are layered and expressed in a string art workshop. From a regular process of hanging threads on nails by prime numbers, a surprisingly complex pattern emerges. We did not specify the material, but asked the participants to choose whatever they wanted, which added a sense of individuality to the beauty that emerged from the limitations.
What to use:
・base (wood, clay, cardboard, etc.)
・ something to stick (nails, drawing pins, toothpicks, etc.)
・ something to hang (thread, string, etc.)
Steps:
1. Place 16 nails in the base.
2.Stretch out the number for every prime number and hang the thread on the nails.

コンセプト：
点と点を結ぶ線が距離をあらわす。最も抽象的なディスタンスを重ねて表現するストリング・アートのワークショップをおこなった。糸を素数ごとに釘にかけていくという規則的で単純な作業から、驚くほど複雑な模様があらわれる。素材は指定せず、それぞれ自由なものを選んでもらうことで、制限の中から生まれる美しさに個性が加わった。
用意するもの：
土台（木、粘土、厚紙など）/さすもの（釘、画鋲、楊枝など）/かけるもの（糸、紐など）
手順：
1.16本の釘を土台にさす。
2.任意の素数ごとに数をとばして、釘に糸をかける。
Yuka
This is a technique that I would recommend to people who are not the drawing-person.
It is interesting that we can not even imagine what the final image will look like and the continuous threading movements is meditative and almost addictive.
The work which I pinned the nails symmetric has a certain harmonious sense (photo 1) , but it changes completely when the nails are pinned randomly (photo 2). I picked up one poor piece of wood that had been used as a palette and was no longer useful, so I have nailed on the colours in order of brightness, from highest to lowest, and I felt as if I was following in the footsteps of the owner of the paint. I wonder what the new home must have been like for these colours, which now have nowhere to go....
最終的にどんな図象が浮かび上がるか想像つかない面白さと黙々と糸をかける作業が瞑想的で癖になるので、絵を描くことが得意でない人にもオススメしたいテクニックです。
等間隔に打った釘によるシンメトリーな図象は調和的な美しさ（写真1）ですが、別の規則性を持ち込んで打った釘で糸をかけてみると全く表情が変わります（写真2）。パレット代わりに使って用済みになった哀れな木材を拾ってきたので、明度の高い色から低い色の順に糸をかけてみたら、絵の具の持ち主の足跡を辿ったような気がしました。行くあてのなくなったこの色たち、引越し先のお家はどんな住み心地だったんでしょうか…。
Fuki
During the creation process, I just became absent-minded.
I hang the thread on the nails, which can become loose if I am not careful.
I count the nails carefully so that I don't mistake the position of the nails, and again I hang the thread on the nails. (Just keep repeating this.)
I was very focused on this work. The distance of threads between nails spreads the whole world in my mind and takes a distance from all the rest.
Even though I had no intention other than to pass the thread to the next peg according to the prime numbers, the finished work was so beautiful that I haven't expected so.
I had heard somewhere before that mathematic is beautiful, but this was the first time I felt it firsthand.
"Mathematic is beautiful!"
ストリングアート……制作の最中はただただ無心になってしまいました。
気を抜けば弛んでしまう糸をピンと張り釘にかける、次にかける所間違えないようにきちんと数えてまた糸をかける。（ひたすらこれを繰り返す）
それはそれは集中しました。釘と釘を結ぶ糸の距離が世界の全てになって、それ以外の現実とは距離ができるのを感じるほどに。
素数に合わせて糸を次の釘に渡すこと以外意図してないにもかかわらず、出来上がった作品はそうとは思えないほどの美しさでした。
以前どこかで「数学は美しい」と聞いたことがありましたが、今回初めて身をもって感じました。「数学って美しい！」
Mizuki
I thought I was doing right, but what I got was a fuzzy, light pink strand of yarn. It was hard for me to make the pattern that Waka and the other members showed us. I thought that if there had been a workshop like this in a Mathematics class, I could have felt the fun of numbers in a more essential way. (I'm not very good at Maths)
This is my string art, which is so pathetic that it is distorted when I lift it up, because I used an unseasoned clay board as a base.
ちゃんと規則的にやっているつもりでも、できあがったのはふやふやとした薄ピンク色の糸もじゃであった。
ワカさんや他のメンバーが見せてくれたような模様がなかなか作れない。数学の授業でこんなワークショップがあったらもっと本質的な（心から数学を愛している人たちが知っているような）数字の面白さを少しでも感じられたのではないかなと思った。（私は数学が大の苦手）
乾燥しきっていない粘土板を土台にしたため、持ち上げればふんにゃりと歪んだどこまでも情けない私のストリングアート。
Natsue
I'm really not good at things that are regular, things that are tight, like rulers.
I always get lost in the world of 0.1mm rulers.
But I chose clay, and the first time I used wood shavings clay, it didn't harden right away.
I went to the workshop feeling a little unreliable as a base.
I enjoyed choosing the colors because I like to make things, and it was fun to combine the colors in a controlled way that the pattern changed from two skips to seven skips.
As I added more threads, the nails became more and more slanted, and the threads that were supposed to be tight became looser and more squishy.
But I feel that even this has become a lovely and gentle work.
The unaccountable looseness became a gentle curve, and unexpectedly became a lovely and gentle work.
こういった規則的なものが苦手だ。
規則的なもの、きっちりしているもの、例えば定規なども本当に苦手なのだ。
うまくできたことがない。定規も0.1ｍｍの世界にいつも迷ってしまう。
しかし私が選んだのは粘土で、初めて使った木くず粘土はすぐには固まらず、
土台としては少し頼りない気もしながらワークショップに臨んだ。
作ることはどんなことも好きなので色選びも楽しんだ。2つ飛ばしで、7つ飛ばしで模様が変わるのをコントロールして色を組み合わせるのが楽しかった。
糸を増やすごとに釘はどんどん斜めになり、ピンと張ったはずの糸は緩んでどんどんふにゃふにゃになった。
計算できないその緩みは優しい曲線となり、思いがけなく愛しい優しい作品になった。
