文をMidori Wakabayashi、絵をFukiが制作した「みみずのはなうた」。
PUKAPUKAでの出会いで生まれたコラボレーション絵本です。
Midori Wakabayashi wrote the text and Fuki painted the pictures for the book "Worm's humming".
This collaborative picture book was born from a meeting at PUKAPUKA.

distanceの展示の企画前に行なった創作絵本のワークショップでMidoriさんの作ったお話に私は衝撃を受けました。
彼女にもっと色々な物語作って欲しいと考えていたところ、コラボの話が持ち上がり今回一冊の絵本になりました。
主人公の「みみず」。実は私が出して欲しいとお願いしたものです。
「みみず」は良い土を作ってくれる素晴らしい生き物ということはわかっているのですが、なぜだかとても苦手。
絵本にすれば好きになれるかもと思い、「みみず」のお話を考えてもらいました！
Midoriさんの生み出したひょっこり色々なところに現れ鼻歌を歌う「みみず」……。
もはや私はその姿には憧れを感じ、絵を描きながら「みみずみたいになりたいな」と思うのでした。
Message from Fuki
I was impressed by the stories that Midori created in the creative picture book workshop that I held before we started planning the virtual exhibition "distance".
I was thinking that I would like her to create more stories, so we decided to collaborate on this book.
The main character “the earthworm" is actually the one I asked her to write.
I know that earthworms are wonderful creatures that make good soil, but for some reason I am not very fond of them.
I thought that a picture book might help people like me to like earthworms, so I asked her to come up with a story about a earthworm!
Midori has created a earthworm that appears in various places and hums a song.
I no longer feel the longing for the earthworm's way of being, and as I paint I think "I want to be like this earthworm".

雨上がりに地上で干からびている「みみず」を見るたびに、なぜ土の中から出てきてしまったんだろう？と不思議な気持ちになります。
鼻どころか、どこが顔なのかもよくわかりません。
馴染みはあるのにとらえどころのない「みみず」の印象をそのままに、心が晴れやかになるようなストーリーに仕上げようと文を書きました。
Fukiさんの瑞々しいタッチで描きあげられたイラストに、ページをめくるたびに感動しています。

Message from Midori
Every time I see a worm drying up on the ground after a rain, I wonder why it has come out of the ground.
I don't even know where its face is, let alone its nose.
I tried to keep the impression of the familiar but elusive "worm" in my writing, and to create a story that will make readers feel refreshed.
Fuki's fresh touch in her illustrations moves me every time I turn the pages.
